HIS STORY...
Negroni is a musician, educator, producer and entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to the art of music, particularly through a vibrant performance of the piano.
Among the educators who marked his career, it is worth mentioning first the teacher from his hometown, Juana Díaz in Puerto Rico, named Santiago Martínez. Also, there are the living legend Papo Lucca and the teacher Alicia Morales, granddaughter of the legendary pianist Noro Morales.
Negroni has a multifaceted identity as a pianist, director and composer of classical music, Latin music, pop and jazz, aspects that allow him to be a creative without limitations, a visionary. He worked for a decade as creative director of SONY Music Publishing in Miami, Florida. From there, he always opened the doors and collaborated with the growth of those who are today recognized as key figures in popular Latin composition. He is also a selfless artist and producer, who includes other guest artists and musicians, new or experienced, in all his productions, whom he makes shine with his ability to adapt and his musicality full of pure romanticism.
Negroni has vast experience as a musical director and has directed great singers of popular and classical music in many venues and important musical theaters and for long seasons. 22 years ago, Negroni and his son Nomar Negroni founded the Negroni’s Trio project, which has already produced 12 albums and three Grammy© nominations, among other awards. Negroni’s Trio has been invited in different seasons to be part of the lineup of different music festivals in the United States, Japan, Spain, Italy, South America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
In addition to his experience as a musical director and composer, and his work in the music business with publishers and nightclub companies, his passion for education is unavoidable. Negroni, along with his piano, has offered a series of educational talks and concerts in schools and universities in Puerto Rico and abroad, in which he transmits his experiences on a musical, professional and personal level. In these concerts, the pianist always surprises with his virtuosity and energy when interpreting works of his own authorship and standards of the Latin and jazz repertoire.
Among his albums as a soloist on the piano, “Negroni Piano + 9”, was nominated by the Latin Music Academy for a Latin Grammy© in 2015. Likewise, his most recent album as a soloist, “In Front Of The Piano”, was chosen as one of the best productions of 2024 by the National Foundation for Popular Culture in Puerto Rico. Negroni continues to continually reinvent himself as a creative and is a tireless learner. Among some of the independent musical proposals that he has generated together with the Negronis Trío project or as a soloist or piano accompanist, there are special shows such as “The Burt Bacharach Story”, “In front of the piano”, “Negroni play Broadway”, “Ready for Christmas”, “One Voice Meets One Piano”, “Elizabeth Caballero & José Negroni”, “A Gershwin to Lecuona Journey”, “Two Lives of Music”, “The Michel Legrand Story” and the “Encuentros” concert series.
