Roots & Formation
José Negroni — pianist, composer, educator, producer and entrepreneur — has dedicated his life to the art of music, particularly through a vibrant and deeply personal command of the piano. His musical formation began in his hometown of Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, under the guidance of teacher Santiago Martínez. His studies were further shaped by the living legend Papo Lucca, Professor Alicia Morales — granddaughter of the legendary pianist Noro Morales — as well as Narciso Figueroa and Dr. Pedro Rojas. These foundational relationships instilled in him not merely technical mastery, but a profound musical intelligence and an enduring love for the full breadth of the piano repertoire.
Entrepreneur & Creative Director
Negroni's identity is multifaceted: a pianist, conductor and composer of classical, Latin, pop and jazz music — qualities that allow him to be a creative without limits, a great visionary. For a decade he served as Creative Director of SONY Music Publishing in Miami, Florida, where he consistently opened doors and contributed to the growth of artists who are today recognised as key figures in Latin popular composition. A generous and collaborative spirit, he has always included fellow musicians — emerging and established alike — in his productions, bringing out the best in each through his extraordinary adaptability and musicality filled with pure romanticism.
Negroni's Trio & Solo Discography
Twenty-five years ago, Negroni and his son Nomar Negroni founded Negroni's Trio — a project that has produced 14 albums and earned three Grammy nominations, among numerous other distinctions. The Trio has performed at major music festivals across the United States, Japan, Spain, Italy, South America, Latin America and the Caribbean. As a solo artist, his album Negroni Piano + 9 received a Latin Grammy nomination from the Latin Recording Academy in 2015. His album In Front of the Piano was selected as one of the best productions of 2024 by the National Foundation for Popular Culture. In 2025 he released Heart Beats, his third solo piano album. In 2026 came his fourth solo piano album, A Manos Libres, with the opening track Cajon y Tecla.
Educator, Conductor & Visionary
Negroni has vast experience as a musical director, having led major musical theatre productions and accompanied celebrated singers of popular and classical music across important stages worldwide. His passion for education is equally inseparable from his artistry — alongside his piano, he has offered lectures and educational concerts at schools and universities in Puerto Rico and abroad, transmitting his musical, professional and personal experiences to new generations. Among his most acclaimed concert programmes are The Burt Bacharach Story, In Front of the Piano, Negroni Plays Broadway, Ready for Christmas, One Voice Meets One Piano, Elizabeth Caballero and Jose Negroni, A Gershwin to Lecuona Journey, Two Lives of Music, The Michel Legrand Story, Serrat En Voz de Mujer, and the ongoing concert series Encounters. Negroni continues to reinvent himself as a creative force — an indefatigable learner whose artistry knows no boundaries.
